Student Access to school nurses is limited, but is improving slightly.

  • In the Five County Region, there are about 2200 students for every school nurse in the system.
  • The availability of nurses has improved since 1997; though, nurse availability decreased between 2000-2001 and 2002-2003.  It is now increasing once again.
  • There is wide variation in the Five County Region, with students in the region outside Los Angeles County having the most limited access to school nurses.

Student access to school counselors is limited, but is also improving slightly.

  • The availability of counselors has improved slightly since 1994.
  • There is wide variation across the region, with students outside Los Angeles County having the most limited access to school counselors.
