Enrollment growth in the region is predominantly Latino.

  • Latino enrollment has increased by nearly 600,000 since 1993.
  • Anglo enrollment has declined by almost 80,000.
  • Asian/Pacific Islander enrollment has increased by about 30,000.
  • African American enrollment has increased by approximately 27,000.
  • American Indian enrollment as remained relatively constant.

Racial/Ethnic composition of school enrollment differs from general population.
