- In the Five County Region, the number of schools has grown
steadily over the past ten-plus years.
- Most growth is due to increases Outside Los Angeles County and Los
Angeles County.
- Recent school construction in the Los Angeles Unified School District has
not yet led to many more schools opening.
Student enrollment has
increased over 25% since 1991.

- In the Five County Region, overall enrollment has increased by
over 25% since 1991.
- Outside Los Angeles County, enrollment has increased more than 35%.
- In Los Angeles County, enrollment has increased just over
20%, but is leveling off.
- In Los Angeles Unified School District, enrollment growth has
been modest at a little over 15%.
In LA County, The number of schools
has increased less than 15% in the last decade.

- In the Five County Region, growth in the number of schools has
lagged behind enrollment growth since 1991.
- In the 5CR, overall enrollment increased over 25%; the number of
schools increased only about 20%.
- Note that the new schools are likely to be built for more
students than those built in the 1950s and 1960s.
- We have not yet been able to compare actual enrollment with
intended school capacity.
